Loving Jesus, living and sharing our faith, welcoming all.

Transformed by the love of Jesus, we are a community of communities,

a sanctuary where all are welcomed unconditionally.

We are a centre of missionary outreach, to make disciples and serve our city

St Joseph's & St John the Baptist Catholic Churches

The Catholic Parish of East Brighton

Welcome to St Joseph’s and St John the Baptist! We are a vibrant and welcoming Catholic
community in Brighton, with a vision to form disciples of Jesus Christ, to love others, and to serve
our city. We have 3 Masses each Sunday, plus one on Saturday evening, and 2 most weekdays. We are also very much present online, with with live Mass, daily news, on line groups, and resources for use at home.

Social Outreach and Community Building - The Fitzherbert Community Hub

we are now working in partnership with our three co-located grassroots charities, Voices in Exile, Brighton Table Tennis Club and Real Junk Food Project to  redevelop the parish hall at St John the Baptist, creating a flexible, multi-purpose, socially inclusive Community Hub

Alpha

The current situation offers a great opportunity to use time well, and think about our faith and the
big questions of life. Join our online Alpha, a weekly series, with each week focussed on one of the
big questions – with opportunities for input, discussion, and getting to know like minded people in
our community.

Community

We are a community serving each other and the local area – both with practical support and
befriending. If you feel isolated at home, or need practical  help or telephone advice, or if you can help
us provide this support, our Lightbulb project can help you for free.  Through the project we take referrals from within the parish and from external agencies for the elderly and disabled solving practical problems that really interfere with quality of life.

ALPHA – A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY TO FIND OUT ABOUT FAITH, OR TO GROW YOUR FAITH

A key part of our mission as a church is to grow as a close community journeying together in our faith. Alpha is a key element of this journey.

We have run 7 very successful Alphas online, after many in person series, with a mixture of parishioners and people new to our church. We run series of Alpha several times a year. Do join us on our next one- whether in person or online. Just let us know if you want to join or talk through what it involves… or if you know someone who could benefit

See our Alpha page, or get in touch and we will answer questions and give you full details

Our wonderful new Fitzherbert Community Hub opened officially in January, and is now fully functioning. Look out for special events there, or come along to the Real Junk Food opportunities on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays –  coffee from 10am, and a pay as you feel lunch from 12 to 2.
