St Joseph's & St John the Baptist Catholic Churches

The Catholic Parish of East Brighton

Welcome to St Joseph’s and St John the Baptist! We are a vibrant and welcoming Catholic
community in Brighton, with a vision to form disciples of Jesus Christ, to love others, and to serve
our city. In normal times we have 4 Masses each Sunday, plus one on Saturday evening, and 2 most weekdays. We are also very much present online, with with live Mass every day, daily news, on line groups, and resources for use at home.

We are a community serving each other and the local area – both with practical support and
befriending. If you feel isolated at home, or need practical shopping help or telephone advice, or if you can help
us provide this support, our Lightbulb project can help you for free.

The current situation offers a great opportunity to use time well, and think about our faith and the
big questions of life. Join our online Alpha, a weekly series, with each week focussed on one of the
big questions – with opportunities for input, discussion, and getting to know like minded people in
our community.

We have 1 or 2 Masses each weekday, and 4 Sunday Masses, with one Mass available streamed every day

At this strange time why not take the opportunity to build your faith, explore your faith, or learn more about faith, life, and God from home.

A universally acknowledged and excellent way of doing this – no matter where you are in your faith journey – is Alpha.

We have run two very successful Alphas online, after many in person series, with a mixture of parishioners and people new to our church. We have just started our third Alpha online and there is still time to join.

See our Alpha page, or get in touch and we will answer questions and give you full details

An evening with friends

Now returned to Wednesday we have our hour of social time, as the current restrictions have removed so much of our opportunity to chat and meet.   An hour on Zoom hosted by David Miller. David will ensure that there is an opportunity to talk to each other, and do some fun things together.  Come and meet your friends and make new ones.

Thursday mornings - Heaven

Join in at 10 on Thursday mornings for discussion, learning and community. Currently we are learning about and discussing heaven.

Be a part of our community and stay in touch

We entered the lockdown without a good database of parishioners. We would really want to keep everyone informed about all that is going on – please help us by giving us your contact details. Also please fill in our parish Census 2020 form.

Tuesday evenings - the joy of hope

For the next 4 weeks on Tuesday evenings online we are running a video series on the Joy of Hope, with videos followed by discussion. The series focuses on uplifting and practical insight into the joy of living now with hope in the future blessing of Eternal Life with God in Heaven

There are so many good things to read, watch, or listen to. We have assembled a range of excellent resources that you may find useful, perhaps even more so at this time. We are constantly adding to this, so please keep coming back to this.

Young Adults

We offer loads of opportunities for students and young adults to journey deeper – to explore, discover, make friends, reflect, celebrate, get involved in the life of the church, and make a difference in the local community together.

News & Live Stream Mass

Welcome to our new Eastbrighton Catholic Parish YouTube channel. See here or the latest news column to the left for the current Mass video.

Youtube have discontinued the useful feature that enabled developers to automatically make a new video appear here, so we now have to do this manually once each video starts. You may find the latest news column (our newsfeed) shows the current Mass more quickly and more reliably.

You can access all previous videos and wait for our next live session by clicking here for the channel. Mass is streamed lived at 10am or 6pm during the week (see newsletter or news page for current week), and at 11:30 on Sundays. We also stream other services and events. Check our news page for details.
