Milton Road Redevelopment
Building a place of welcome, growth and community
We’re creating a new space of welcome on Milton Road –
a vibrant, accessible space where everyone can connect, learn, rest and grow.
Rooted in the life of St Joseph’s Church, this new centre
will bring together parish life, student chaplaincy and community outreach under one roof – open to all and built for the good of the city
A New Home for Community and Faith
The Hub will include:
-
A bright coffee lounge for meeting and connecting
-
Flexible rooms for study, meetings and wellbeing groups
-
A hall for community events
-
A quiet Oratory for prayer and reflection
-
Spaces designed for students, young adults and families
Designed with Care for People and Planet
The building has been thoughtfully planned for accessibility and sustainability, featuring:
-
Solar panels and air-source heating
-
Bee bricks and a re-wilded garden to support biodiversity
-
Fully accessible design with family-friendly facilities
Rooted in History
The site has served the community since 1879 — first as St Joseph’s Catholic School, then as a parish hall. This next chapter builds on that legacy, creating a modern space for faith, friendship and service.
Shaping the Future Together
As we prepare to open, we’re listening to local voices to shape future activities such as:
-
Parent and toddler groups
-
Student and young adult gatherings
-
Wellbeing, learning and hospitality events
