Vision & Mission
“Transformed by the love of Jesus we are a community of communities, a sanctuary where all are welcome unconditionally. We are a centre of missionary outreach, to make disciples and to serve our city.”
3. I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this very moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting him encounter them; I ask all of you to do this unfailingly each day. No one should think that this invitation is not meant for him or her, since “no one is excluded from the joy brought by the Lord”.
Pope Francis – The Joy of the Gospel (Evangelii Gaudium)
Archbishop Mark Coleridge’s summary of what it means to be a disciple
Transformed by the love of Jesus
It is God who first loved us so lavishly that he sent His only Son, to transform our sinful nature by his death on a cross. Jesus, the perfect man, has perfected mankind with love; he calls us to be holy, to be like him, to love and follow him. His cross, death and resurrection change everything; nothing can ever be the same again. In our Parish we seek to share and celebrate all the opportunities that God gives us to enjoy this journey of transformation, so that the benefits will extend beyond our physical boundaries.
A Sanctuary
As Children of God we are a people of prayer; we are the Church. Our buildings are houses of prayer, contemplation and worship. We offer places of calm, peace and refuge in which we also gather to celebrate the Lord’s Eucharist, sing and praise God, and worship His Holy Name. We are not limited or confined to our churches, but they provide a safe space for all and a springboard for mission.
All Are Welcome Unconditionally
As Jesus welcomes embraces and accepts everyone who turns to him, without exception. Jesus turns nobody away; neither do we. We celebrate the diversity of our City. Everyone is welcome, especially the lost, the marginalised, seekers and searchers of the truth, those who feel abandoned by the Church and those who have nowhere else to call home.
We are a Centre of Missionary Outreach
Through our witness and our projects we aim to serve everyone in any kind of need, Spiritual, emotional or physical. We value our partnerships with Brighton Table Tennis Club, The Real Junk Food Project, Voices in Exile and National bodies such as CAFOD and CARITAS. Our local initiatives promote social cohesion and the welfare and integration of Asylum seekers and refugees. Our Young Adult and Student ministry reaches out to visitors from all over the World.
